2000 GUINEAS 1883

The 75th winner of the 2000 Guineas, held on Wednesday 25th April 1883 over the Rowley Mile, was Galliard (9/2), a brown colt by Galopin out of Mavis, owned by the 6th Viscount Falmouth. The winner won by a head in 1 minute 50.40 secs, with a neck back to the third. A field of 15 runners contested the race which was worth £4,600 (Equivalent to £510,600 in 2017)
